Why do I need a responsive website?
We build mobile responsive websites that automatically resize to display properly on any device. In the past, websites were viewed mainly on desktop computers or laptops, but now consumers expect to be able to view websites on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. In fact, a recent Ofcom report found that smartphones are now the most popular device for accessing the internet in the UK and 52% of people prefer to use a smartphone or tablet to get online.
Traditional non-responsive websites don’t display properly on a mobile or tablet screen. For example, the text is tiny and users need to zoom in to be able to read it. With a responsive website design the text will automatically be made larger so consumers can easily read it. Google also prefers to show mobile friendly websites in its search results, so without a responsive website you could be missing out on potential customers and losing business.
How long will it take to make my website?
As each website project is unique it is hard to say exactly how long yours will take to complete, but typically you can expect it to be done in 4-6 weeks. Please bear in mind that we will need you to be on hand to complete our initial questionnaire, give feedback and approve the design, and provide the content for each page.
What’s involved and what do you need from me?
As your website will be custom made and tailored to the specific requirements of your business we will need to work closely with you during the design and build process. Before we start you will need to complete a short questionnaire to give us a clear idea of what you’re looking for and we will ask you further questions if we need to. We will go away and come up with a design concept. You will need to let us know what you think of it and we will make any changes you want until you’re happy with it. You will have to supply the written content (and any images if required) for each page so that we can build your website. Finally you will need to approve the finished website before it goes live.
What’s in the questionnaire?
To help us understand your requirements we will ask you the following questions:
- Tell us about your company – what do you do and what is the purpose of your website?
- Who is your target audience?
- Who are your main competitors? Please list their website address or company name.
- How many pages do you need (home, about, contact, information etc)?
- Do you already have a logo and colour scheme you’d like to keep? Or do you have a logo concept or colour scheme in mind?
- Please give examples of any other websites you like the look of and say what you like about them. These don’t have to be in the same industry as your business, just any sites you like in terms of style, colour and layout.
- Do you already own a domain name that you want to use?
- Do you want us to provide hosting? We offer this for only £12 a month and this fee includes 1 hour of technical support each month (otherwise charged at £25 an hour).

Do you use templates?
No, we don’t use templates. We create bespoke, professionally designed websites personalised to our clients’ needs. With a template you would be restricted in what changes you can make to your website, whereas with a customised design you’ll get the flexibility to add different features and update it however you like in the future.
What CMS (Content Management System) do you use?
The CMS platform we use to build our websites is WordPress, because it is easy to use, flexible and robust.
How do I pay?
We accept payments by bank transfer, PayPal or cheque. We request a 50% deposit upfront with the balance due on completion.
What do I do about hosting, email and my domain name?
We offer a hosting only package for £10 a month. Please bear in mind that any non-hosting related technical support that you need from us will be charged at our standard rate of £40 an hour. Or you can choose our Maintenance Package that includes hosting, updates and 4 hours of free technical support for £50 per month. Alternatively you can arrange your own hosting, which will not incur our monthly fee. Whether you want to use your existing domain and email address or a new one, we can work out the best solution. How do I make changes to my website in the future?
We will give you training in how to login and make changes on your own. If you need to make complicated changes, or would prefer us to do it for you, we can do this for our standard technical support charge of £40 per hour. If you have signed up to our Maintenance Package, which includes up to 4 hours of free technical support each month, we can make changes for you. Please contact us to discuss how we can help.
Can you make a new logo for my business?
Yes. In addition to web design we also offer logo design. If you’re happy to use your current logo on your website, that’s fine. However, if you’d like a brand new logo that is something we can do. The process is similar to web design in that we listen to your requirements, come up with a design and make unlimited revisions until you’re happy with the end result.
Do you also do online marketing, such as SEO, PPC and Social Media campaigns?
Yes. After your website does live you have the option to sign up to our SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) service to help boost your Google rankings and get more customers to your site. It can take some time for SEO to result in increased organic rankings, so we suggest you try it for a few months at least, although there is no minimum contract. We can also run PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising campaigns on your behalf and manage your Social Media accounts. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.
